I met a solid rowing friend and asked about the Race. "How fared it
with the wind," I said, "When stroke increased the pace?
You swung it forward mightily, you heaved it greatly back. "Your
muscles rose in knotted lumps, I almost heard the crack. "And
while we roared and rattled too, your eyes were fixed like glue.
"What thoughtwent flying through your mind, how fared it, Five, with
you?" But Five made answer solemnly, "I heard them fire a gun, "No
other mortal thing I heard until the Race was done." -R.C. Lehman

About VRC
The Virginia Rowing Club has been in existence since 1989. Our boathouse is located under the bridge over Hampton River by the Radisson Hotel in Hampton. We have an excellent floating dock seen in the picture at left.
Currently, we have an assortment of shells including two Vespoli 4's, a couple of doubles and an eight.
Rowing Sessions
We practice every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. during Daylight Savings Time and on Saturday mornings at 8 a.m. as long as the weather permits.
Membership Responsibilities(abridged version)
In order to provide a safe and enjoyable rowing experience for all members, the boathouse rules are to be followed. Copies are on the website and in the boathouse.
All members are expected to inspect equipment prior to rowing, report concerns with the equipment or boathouse to the Boathouse Captain, row in a safe and responsible manner, and pay dues.
Junior rowers must be supervised at all times by an individual(s) approved by the Board. Guests may be sponsored by a general member, so long as the member presents a signed waiver from the guest. Supervised guests may only visit 5 times before having to decide whether or not to join.
Dues are $250.00/year.
No membership is activated or renewed without a signed waiver available from the webpage or in the VRC boathouse. We also have a family membership available at $300./year.
